Interior & Exterior Painter — Residential & Commercial
A 1099 contractor role for an experienced painter who can handle a job from prep to final walkthrough without supervision. Phoenix metro projects only.
What You’ll Do
- Interior & exterior residential repaints — full prep, primer, paint, cleanup
- Commercial projects — offices, retail, multifamily, HOAs
- Surface preparation — sanding, patching, caulking, masking
- Spray and brush application — Sherwin-Williams products
- Stucco repair and texture matching — when applicable
- Cabinet refinishing — when applicable
- Drywall repair — basic patch work expected
- Job site cleanup — leave the home cleaner than we found it
- Direct customer interaction — professional, respectful, clean appearance
What We Need From You
- 5+ years professional painting experience — required, verifiable through references
- Reliable transportation — own vehicle, valid AZ driver’s license
- Own basic tools and PPE — brushes, rollers, drop cloths, ladders, paint clothes
- Sprayer experience — airless preferred
- Phoenix metro residence — Maricopa County preferred
- Background check willingness — required for residential work
- References — 2 work-related references minimum
- Photos or video of past work — proof of craftsmanship
- Bilingual English/Spanish — strongly preferred, not required
- Professional attitude — show up on time, communicate, finish what you start
Pay structure: per-job or per-hour, your choice.
We negotiate based on the project. Lump-sum per-job (most common for repaints) or hourly (for time-and-materials work). Competitive Phoenix-market rates with completion bonuses for callback-free, on-schedule work.

Is this a W-2 or 1099 position?
This is a 1099 contractor position. You’ll be responsible for your own taxes, and we’ll provide a 1099-NEC at year-end. We can discuss W-2 conversion for the right person down the road, but the current opening is 1099.
How often will I get paid?
Weekly. Direct deposit or check, your choice. No 30-day waits like the big franchises.
Do I need my own insurance?
For 1099 work, you should ideally carry your own general liability insurance. If you don’t have it yet, we can talk through getting set up — there are affordable options ($40-60/month range) and we’ll work with you.
What kind of jobs will I be on?
Mostly residential repaints across Phoenix metro — interiors, exteriors, cabinets, stucco repair. Some commercial work — offices, HOAs, multifamily. We’ll match jobs to your skill set.
Do I work alone or with a crew?
Both, depending on the job. Smaller residential interiors are often solo or 2-person. Larger exteriors or commercial jobs are crew work. You’ll never be on a 10-person ant colony — we keep crews small and skilled.
What if I don’t have all the tools listed?
Most experienced painters have the basics (brushes, rollers, ladders, drop cloths). Sprayer is a plus but not strictly required — we can use ours when needed. List what you have honestly on the application.
Spanish only — can I still apply?
Yes. We have a Spanish version of this application at /carreras/. Bilingual is preferred but not required — we’ll find a way to communicate.
What does “5+ years experience” mean exactly?
We’re looking for painters who can run a residential repaint from prep to walkthrough without supervision. If you’ve been painting professionally for 5+ years and your references will back that up, you’re qualified to apply. Less experience? Still apply if you’re confident in your skills — we’ll evaluate based on the work, not just the resume.
